The decision by artists Nemeye Platini [Platini P] and Rwangabo Byusa Nelson [Nel Ngabo] to choose Tanzania as the location for shooting music videos from their upcoming album Vibranium reflects a new phase in the growth of Rwandan music, as it continues to expand beyond national borders.
According to Ishimwe Karake Clement, head of Kina Music, the two artists arrived in Tanzania on September 24, 2025, where they are expected to spend a week filming in the cities of Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. This follows their goal to transform their art into a new format aimed at reaching an international audience.
Zanzibar’s coastal beauty and unique scenery, which differs greatly from Rwanda’s landscape, made it an ideal choice for Platini and Nel Ngabo, who aim to present their music in a refined, visually appealing, and authentic way. This aligns with Kina Music’s approach of promoting artists through high-quality, globally competitive content.
Shooting music videos abroad is no longer exclusive to international artists. It has become a strategic move for many Rwandan musicians seeking to elevate their brand and present their music at a higher level, through collaborations and production with respected creatives in the entertainment industry.
